Bella Organic is a young and upcoming farm and our goal is to promote responsible farming practices. We are now in our 3rd year and started with just a few fruits and vegetables and with each year we have expanded our inventory.
We use no harmful chemicals on the farm because we believe that when you spray to kill the harmful bugs, you also end up poisoning and killing the bugs that are good and useful to farming and then expose your consumers to these harmful chemicals.
We also lease our land to other farmers who wish to grow organic as well.
We have been farming for over 10 years, using organic farming methods (however we are not organic certified). We raise a large variety of vegetables for our CSA members. We have goats and chickens which provide us with eggs and goat cheese sold separately to our members. In addition we raise happy free-range sheep, chickens and cattle for meat. Lyn's beautiful flowers can be found at the Beaverton Farmers Market, along with some of her seedlings in the early part of the season.
We encourage our CSA members to be involved in the farm, and ask for help with our harvests from our members. Weekly share pick-ups are done on Mondays and Thursdays at the farm. We also host fun parties throughout the season to bring our members and community together. One of our shares is owned by a Portland preschool, and we especially love our young workers who come help us collect eggs and with the harvesting. We have a yearly canning party in September, that helps members learn how to preserve the harvest and extend the season.
We welcome visitors to the farm and new CSA members.
